Curious to learn more about our gardening practices? The vegetables we grow here at Colonial are used at Colonial Kitchen, sold in the Market and at Lee’s Summit Farmers Market & apart of our seasonal farm shares – we believe that soil is life and homegrown is best!
Our recurring tours include:
- Walk through the garden beds to discuss seasonal varieties, dense planting techniques, and four season growing (when applicable)
- Walk through the production house “Bertha” to see and discuss aquaponics, extending the season, pest control, microclimates, and the ecosystem within the greenhouse
- Walk through the herbs & vegetables growing outside in PlantRight bags – learn about this system & why we grow produce in these bags
- Walk by the compost pile & through the wash/pack area to learn about composting, recycling, and packing processes
