More information about our presenter

Bill has been interested in beekeeping since he was 10 years old.  In 2018 he decided to take the jump and bought his first two hives. His first honey harvest was in 2019 for friends and family.  Since that time, he has started selling his honey and has dabbled in scented beeswax candles as well. The number of hives he has varies every year, and this year, he is up to seven. Bill has truly enjoyed this journey so far and learns something new almost every time he works with his bees.  The only hard fact about beekeeping is that if you ask three beekeepers the same question, you’ll get three different answers. As with anything, there are ups and downs every year, especially when you realize the average hive loss in the US is about 40% per year.
Bill will share what he has learned, including all kinds of cool bee facts, and what it takes to keep your own hive.  He’ll also be talking about the importance of pollinators and what you can do to take care of them.
